This past week, Mrs. Coil's CFS class begun a new project, the problem being non-affordable housing which can cause poverty and/or homelessness. Regarding the problem, we did research as a class. Using the standard question starters (who, what, where, when, why, how), we asked ourselves several questions to aid our findings. We learned that since demand for housing is so high, especially in Urban areas and cities, people do not have access to affordable housing. In the past ten to fifteen years, people making less than $20,000per year could be affected by this issue, according to csindy.com. Mrs. Coil expects nothing less than our best.
To solve the problem of non-affordable housing and homelessness, students will be creating tiny homes in hope that their solution can help solve the increasing issue. In definition, a tiny house is less than 400 square feet. In our case, we have a budget of $10,000 for décor and furnishing. Without a doubt, our class will push our limits to create a solution.
My personal floor plan in progress is based of of the design from www.cozyhomeplans.com. It features a 300 square foot home and a 50 square foot deck. The furnishings, however, have not yet been chosen. As expected, my design is safe and functional. The final floor plan will eventually be to scale.
